This 4-day virtual class offering delivered on 22-25 June 2009 will be lead by Mike Eckert of NOAA/HPC and Matt Kelsch of COMET. Other instructors will come from WFOs, RFCs, regional, and national headquarters. Students will participate in synchronous presentations, interactions, and laboratory exercises. Topics include: the NWS QPF process, the science of QPF, uncertainty and probabilistic QPF, ensembles, QPF tools, climate influences, verification, short term QPF, impact on flow forecasts, and QPF time horizons.
