Michael is a native of Shawnee, Oklahoma who has been fascinated with weather from a young age and has always known that being a meteorologist is what he wanted to do. Michael has bachelors and masters degrees in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. For his graduate studies, he worked with a mobile radar group at OU doing research activities on various aspects of thunderstorms from dual-doppler analysis of supercell thunderstorms and their structure to cloud electrification and lightning research. He has been with the GOES-R Program for three years, first as the GOES-R liaison at the NWS Warning Decision Training Division (WDTD) for two and a half years, and then moving to his current position with the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in April 2017. He is excited to be working with various users of the GOES-16 data and looks forward to incorporating the new data and various products into operations at the SPC.
