Instructor Biographies: Scott Rudlosky and Geoffrey Stano
Dr. Scott Rudlosky, Physical Scientist, NESDIS STAR and Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS)
Dr. Scott Rudlosky is a physical scientist in the Satellite Climate Studies Branch and is co-located with the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS) in College Park, Maryland. Scott is the NESDIS Subject Matter Expert on lightning and co-lead of the GLM Algorithm Working Group. His recent research focuses on the evaluation of ground- based lightning detection networks relative to satellite observations and the development and evaluation of operational lightning products. Scott's focus has also included combining microwave precipitation observations from polar orbiting satellites with those from GOES, as well as using lightning information in the early detection of wildfires from space.
Dr. Geoffrey Stano, Senior Scientist, ENSCO, Inc. and NASA's Short-term Prediction Research and Transition Center (SPoRT)
Dr. Geoffrey Stano is a senior scientist with ENSCO, Inc. working for NASA’s Short-term Prediction Research and Transition Center (SPoRT) as part of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama since 2007. He focuses on training and applications development for total lightning observations and to prepare the operational community for the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM). He is a total lightning and GLM subject matter expert as part of the GOES-R Proving Ground since 2009 and as the GOES-R Satellite Liaison for the GLM since 2016 and will continue to research new applications for the GLM.
