3.7 Chapter Summary

Now that you have completed this chapter, you should be able to:

  1. Generally understand the essential data elements of an NWEM, presented in Lessons 3.3-3.6.
    1. NWEM authoring software should automatically derive values and present pick lists, to ensure the formation of a technically valid message, and to free you to focus on those elements for which you are responsible.
  1. Understand the primary elements for which you are responsible -- headline, description, and instruction. With respect to these elements you should be able to:
    1. apply knowledge of length limitations;
    1. apply knowledge of character limitations; and
    1. follow up with your local WFO to identify any potential text-to-voice issues.
  1. Identify the source of each part of the final NWEM.
