Radome

The installation of the radome of University of Helsinki dual polarisation weather radar in 2006
  • Radomes protect the radar antenna against the elements
  • Radomes can also cause systematical errors in the reflectivity pattern of the radar due to the radome construction
  • All joints, bolts and screws interfere the radar beam progression
  • New radomes are designed to be non-symmetric to decrease error patterns in reflectivity profiles
