Elie F5

On June 22, 2007, a tornadic supercell initiated northwest of Elie, Manitoba, where it caused F5 damage, the first recorded F5 damage in Canada. Note how difficult it was to identify that one supercell out of the chaos of echoes.

1.5 km CAPPI of the Elie supercell

LoLaa images for the same time. Note the multiple interactions between outflow boundaries, lake breeze fronts, and the cold front.

Footage taken by members of a local Hutterite colony. Note the house being lifted off its foundation and destroyed, 5 seconds into the video. About 15 seconds into the video, a full-sized van loaded with drywall is seen being tossed by the tornado into a farmer's field where it cartwheeled before coming to rest.
