Many of the algorithms discussed in this section are related to thunderstorm forecasting. Much effort is being expended to identify shortcomings with the existing URP algorithms and create new prototype algorithms that will eventually be implemented in URP. They will also form the basis for those that will be included in the NinJo radar layer.

Wherever possible, details about the existing algorithms and the new prototype versions will be given.
