Paul Joe is a research scientist within the
Meteorological Service of Canada. His
area of expertise is Doppler Weather Radar and Severe Weather. He was involved with various projects including:
lead scientist for the Canadian National Radar Project and the Canadian Radar
Decision Support system, the radar lead
for the NinJo workstation project, principal investigator for SNOWSAT, science
lead for the Vancouver 2010 project, He
was the chair of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) on Radar
Meteorology, was one of the principal investigators the WWRP Nowcasting
Forecast Demonstration Projects in Sydney and the Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010 FDP’s. He is a member of the WMO Commission on
Instruments, Methods and Observations and on the Nowcasting Working Group. He has taught in previous EUMETCAL, WWRP and
CIMO radar courses. Paul graduated with a Bachelor's in Engineering Science (Geophysics) and
then studied Cloud Physics for his Master’s and Ph.D. He enjoys sports (skiing,
golf, soccer) and photography.
