Course Facilitator - David Ball

The first half of my life was spent on the British Columbia's west coast, the second half on the Canadian Prairies. It's hard to imagine two different climate regimes. I have a Master's Degree in Geography with a specialization in Meteorology and my thesis was in the field of satellite applications. I've been working for the MSC for 22 years, in 3 different offices, and for the most part doing public weather. From 1998 to 2005, I was a severe weather meteorologist. Since 2005, I've been the Associate Science Transfer and Training meteorologist in the Prairie and Arctic Storm Prediction Centre in Winnipeg, where I've helped to develop a number of training/teaching initiatives, not least of which is the radar training course you will be taking over the coming months.

My initial role in this course was as the developer of the course material, with a lot of help from many others, but as we move into actually delivering the course, I will be acting as the facilitator and technical expert.
