Gary Geng

I received my Ph.D of Meteorology from a joint-educational program between the University of Tokyo and Peking University, and a Master's Degree of Software Systems from the University of British Columbia. I joined Environment Canada as an operational meteorologist in 2006. Prior to my current position, I worked at the University of British Columbia as a research associate for 4 years. Before I came to Canada, I worked as a research scientist at the University of Tokyo and Japan Marine Science and Techonology Center for several years. I also worked at Columbia University in the NOAA's Short-term Climate Predication Program in New York. My research was mainly focused on climate variability study with various methods including data analysis, dynamical diagnosis, numerical simulations and modeling. My study was extended to cloud modeling with a very high-resolution cloud-resolving model and the Canadian climate model when I was working at UBC. I have several papers published in the Journals of American Meteorological Society. I am also experienced in software design and development.
