Sandra Spillane
Sandra Spillane-Lynch is the newly appointed remote sensing meteorologist in the
Research and Applications Division of Met Éireann (the Irish meteorological
service – www.met.ie), which she joined in 2007. She received her PhD in Applied
Mathematics (Fluid Dynamics) from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland
for her dissertation “A study of boundary layer flow with no-slip and slip
boundary conditions” (2008). She also holds a MSc in meteorology from University
College Dublin, Ireland (2008).
Her current research work includes familiarisation with the Irish radar system and meteorological/earth systems satellites, and their applications.
In her spare time, Sandra is interested in reading, photography, swimming, surfing, jogging and traveling. Happily in November 2008 Sandra and her husband, Robert, welcomed a little girl, Amy Jayne, into their family and now there is very little spare time.
Sandra can be reached at sandra.spillane@met.ie.
