Weiqing Zhang

I completed all my meteorological education in China, a Bachelor's degree in 1990, a Master's degree in 1993, and a Doctorate in 2002. In March of 2002, I came to the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Halifax, Nova Scotia, first as a post-doctoral fellow and later as a research associate. Before I started the MOIP training in September 2006, I had been focusing on the work of air-sea interaction on the Atlantic Extra-tropical severe storm system.

Now I have been a forecaster at the Ontario Storm Prediction Center for nearly 3 years. I have been working on both public and Marie forecasting. I love this job. I love the challenging weather.

Other than meteorology, some of my interests and hobbies include hiking, watching movies, and reading.
