Workshop on Assessment as a Learning Activity

Hi everyone,

Maja and I wanted to send a message about this workshop, and do not worry-- we are not asking you to prepare anything. We have changed our design since the original submission, and it is now an interactive discussion using an online quiz tool, rather than a workshop.

The intent of the is to inspire you to design assessments that will become opportunities for learners to gain more from their learning experiences. But even though we had originally ask for you to bring your training plans to work with, that is no longer required. Bring them in your minds, of course, to think about how you can do more with assessment in your training.

HOWEVER, we are asking you to bring your wireless devices--laptops or phones, to the session. The session will be run as an online quiz, and you will submit your answers to the quiz questions via your device. Phones will work just as well as laptops. We will ask you to share with a partner if that person does not have a device, but we hope that these days most people will have internet access for a conference like CALMet.

In case you want look ahead, this is the site we will be using, and the Room Code will be usable once we launch the session. But take a look at Socrative as a tool in advance if you have time. You might find it very useful for your courses, either online or in the classroom.

Socrative: https://b.socrative.com/
Room Code: H9MPCL4U

Best regards,

Maja Kuna-Parrish and Patrick Parrish

Hi All,

We forgot to remind you in person today, but once again, please bring your wireless device to use during our assessment session tomorrow morning, if you have one. This will allow you to participate in the quiz, very similar to the way you interacted in Tsvet's session on Booster questions using the clickers.

I hope that you all get a good night's sleep.

Regards,

Patrick
